Craftsmanship
Mahala textiles are produced using screen printing, block printing, embroidery and weaving on both hand looms and power looms. Each method is selected for the clarity, texture and depth it brings to the finished cloth.
Screen printing allows precision of pattern. Block printing retains the subtle variation of the hand. Embroidered designs are developed with close attention to stitch density and ground cloth, creating depth and definition across the surface. Woven textiles are constructed with equal consideration for structure, weight and handle.
All designs are created in-house and informed by an archive of antique textiles sourced across Europe, the Middle East and India. Historic references guide proportion and rhythm, but the final cloth is always resolved for contemporary use.
Production is carefully overseen to ensure consistency in colour, weave and embroidery execution.
